Clean Boats, Clean Waters Story Hour

Calling all youth librarians and early childhood educators! Join us in our efforts to teach the next generation of anglers and lake lovers how to keep Wisconsin waters clean and free of pesky invaders like the dreaded zebra mussel.

The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources staff collaborated with the University of Wisconsin Extension to create a dynamic new video story time tutorial "Clean Boats, Clean Waters." This training video leads librarians, early childhood educators, and elementary teachers through a lesson on how to present a story time focusing on how everyone, even kids, can help keep Wisconsin waters clean. The video features a former kindergarten teacher demonstrating how to do the story time. View the video online, or request a free DVD version by contacting Christal Campbell at Christal.campbell@wisconsin.gov, 608-266-0061.

The Clean Boats, Clean Waters Story Hour was developed by Judy Ruch, a former kindergarten teacher and Clean Boats, Clean Waters volunteer in Vilas County. Judy’s presented the story hour at libraries across Vilas County and we’re hoping you’ll help us spread the clean boats, clean waters message statewide. Copies of all the materials and resources you’ll need to lead a story hour in your area are listed below.
