PINE LAKE P & R DISTRICT: Pine Lake Management Planning

Purpose

1) Conduct water quality sampling of lake. 2) Conduct a land use survey to identify land use changes and significant run-off areas, and determine the need for a more comprehensive septic system in the future. 3) Conduct a macrophyte sytvey thatreplicates the one conducted in 1977. 4) Evaluate the proposed dam reconstruction and draw-down project for Hiles Millpond to determine what effects this project would have on nutrient loading to the lake. 5) Prepare a final report that included 1 - 4listed above. 6) DNR shall receive copies of the final report. 7) Information will be disseminated to the public by newsletter, local newspaper articles, press releases to TV, radio, and newspapers in district area, poster displays, public meetings,summary and entire report mailings. Project results will be reposited at the Town Hall, Courthouse, public libraries in Forest County, DNR and RPC.

The following is a description of and results from the planninggrant study of Pine Lake performed by Northern Lake Service between April 1992 and March 1993. The purpose of this study was to determine current water quality for comparison to past and future data and provide a basis for recommending improvement/preservation strategies.
