WASHINGTON COUNTY LCD: Quass Creek Watershed Education Program

Purpose

Washington County will assist in development of a new river organization. Funds will lead the effort to create a private, non-profit Quaas Creek Watershed Protection Group, either as a stand-alone entity or by expanding an existing non-profit group. Information and education efforts for pollution control and land use planning in the watershed will be the primary focus. Scope change 9/17/02: The Washington County Land Conservation Dept. will coordinate the implementation of a Quass Creek Watershed Education Program. This education program is part of a larger Watershed Protection Plan being developed by an intergovernmental committee called the Quass Creek Watershed Protection Committee. Information and education efforts for pollution control and land use planning in the watershed will be the primary focus. As a result of the project and its success, Washington Co. will assist in the development of a new river organization.. Funds will lead the effort to create a private, non-profit Quass Creek Watershed Protection Group, either as a stand-alone entity or by expanding an existing non-profit group. The DNR will be provided with both a paper copy and an electronic copy of the final report. Information will be disseminated to the public as described in the grant application.
