TOWN OF BARABOO: Devil's Lake Phosphorus Reduction & Hydrologic Study

Purpose

1) Conduct sediment coring and bottom water withdrawal experiments to evaluate these techniques to reduce phosphorus concentrations in the lake sediments and thereby reduce the rate of internal phosphorus cycling in the lake. 2) Conduct a hydrologicstudy of the lake to determine inflow and outflow rates, and calibrate a water budget model designed to stimulate lake stage. 3) USGS will prepare a draft report, summarizing the model simulations described in 2 above, in 1993. The final report will bepublished in 1994. 4) USGS is contributing a matching $12,500.00. DNR will receive copies of all reports. Informatio will be disseminated to the public by local newspaper articles and public meetings. Project results will be reposited at DNR and USGScomputer databases, Agency and University libraries and scientific journals.
