EAGLE LAKE PROPERTY OWNERS IMPROVEMENT ASSOC: RES-Eagle Lake Watershed Improvement Project

Purpose

The Eagle Lake Property Owners Improvement Association is undertaking a project to educate land owners of both lakeshore and streamshore properties of the benefits of shoreland restoration. The major goal of the project will be to install buffer strips along all of the tributaries to the lake and to install buffer strips along various portions of the lake shore. The buffer strips will be installed using native grasses, shrubs, trees, biologs and biomats(coconut fiber). A drain tile pollution study will be conducted to identify any sources of high nutrient loading. Project products will be the following: Deed restrictions on all buffer installations with a minimum 10 year deed restriction on each parcel listed, buffer installations documented with photographs, a copy of the results of the drain tile pollution study, newletters to residents, and a press release to the public. Scope change:(7-20-04) The monies designated for streambank stabilization and hight residue management and nutrient plans for the streambank will be all transfered for educational activities. These activities consist of shoreline restoration/naturalization projects on Eagle Lake.
