WASHBURN COUNTY: LCO-Washburn Co Ordinance Dev & Resource Mapping

Purpose

Washburn County proposes to conduct a county-wide Resource Inventory Lake Protection project to amend the county zoning ordinance and develop a GPS based multiple layer resource mapping system. Activities associated with this project will include; formation of a citizens advisory committee, development of zoning ordinance amendments and floodplain and stormwater regulations, development of resource map overlays documenting watersheds, land uses, water bodies, wetlands, habitat corridors, vegetation cover, and unique land features and scenic vistas, evaluation of public access to water resources in connection with the recently adopted county lake classification system, and conduct of an ongoing public participation and education program on the revised regulations, etc.. Project deliverables for this project would include copies of all maps, proposed ordinances, shoreland owners guidebook, plans, etc. developed during the course of the project. The Department of Natural Resources will be provided with both a paper copy and an electronic copy of all project products and periodic reports on the progress of the project. The project results will be disseminated to the public by newsletter(s), or public meeting(s), and/or local newspaper article(s).
