THUNDER LAKE P & R DISTRICT: Thunder Lake - Aquatic Plant Survey

Purpose

The Thunder Lake Protection & Rehabilitation District will complete an aquatic plant survey for Thunder Lake. The grantee will provide a detailed description of the methods of the survey for Department approval prior to beginning the survey. The results of this survey will be reported to the public through a written report, a presentation at a Lake District meeting and a press release to local newspapers. Project deliverables include (work products): 1. Map of aquatic plant beds based on the survey results; 2. A complete set of data (raw data for each depth and transect as well as the summarized data); 3. Two sets of reference plants. Once the plants are vouchered, DNR will laminate one set to give back to the District for their reference and public education, the second (unlaminated) set will be sent to the Stevens Point Herbarium; 4. A written report and charts summarizing the survey and compairing the surveys to the past surveys. This report will also include discussion on how this survey will be used by the District to implement aquatic plant recommendations in Phase 1, including all plant management recommendations in the summary. The DNR will be provided with both a paper copy and an electronic copy of the final report. Information will be disseminated to the public as described in the grant application.
