FRIENDS OF LAKE MOHAWKSIN: Lake Mohawksin AIS Early Detection & Response Project - CLP

Purpose

During the summer of 2013 Curly-Leaf Pondweed (CLP) was found in Lake Mohawksin at low densities. This project addresses the pioneer CLP through monitoring and volunteer based hand harvesting activities. The project includes the following goals: 1) Early season AIS survey; 2) Hand removal coordination and GPS base map creation; 3) Volunteer based surveillance monitoring and hand removal; 4) Late summer follow up AIS survey. Project deliverables include: 1) Annual AIS monitoring report; 2) A final report will be completed discussing the results of the three years of surveys, success of hand pulling and a control strategy targeting AIS within Lake Mohawksin. Specific conditions for this Project: 1) The WDNR will be provided electronic and hard copies of all data and or reports/plans generated as a result of this project; 2) Make sure lake association members are informed about this project.
