Moore-Tri Creeks Watershed TWA 2017

Purpose

Monroe County is creating a Land Use Plan for the Tri Creeks Watershed Property. This project will provide data to support their plan and fill data gaps. This project will also allow us to assess sites (Moore Creek and Morris Creek and it's groundwater) to support data collection for natural community/designated uses verifications and assess stream health. Camille Bruhn will work with the field crew (Jake Ring, Mycal Raleigh, etc.) to complete the water quality, fish, habitat, and macroinvertebrate monitoring. The monitoring will occur in FY17 and FY18. HUC 12 070700060102.

Objective

The objective of this project is to support the Monroe County Land Conservation Department by collecting baseline data to assess the resources present on their Tri Creeks Watershed Property. This project will also support the internal project to verify natural communities and designated uses. This project will assess stream health. Sites will be sampled throughout the Tri Creeks Watershed Property, using ten sites for assessment including above and below each of the WWTP outfalls (Norwalk WWTP Facility and VPP, Inc.) to complete natural community verification. The following WBICs will be included in the sampling efforts: 1201300, 1200000 (Moore Creek), and 1201600.

Outcome

This project supports the efforts of the Monroe County Land Conservation Department and the WDNR to obtain baseline monitoring information on resources in the Moore Creek Watershed. This data will provide a baseline on conditions to evaluate resources in the Moore Creek Watershed and will be used to supplement the Land Use Plan for the Monroe County Tri Creeks Watershed Property.

Study Design

Water chemistry (specifically total phosphorus monitoring), fish, habitat, and macroinvertebrate data will be collected at each of the selected sites in the Moore Creek Watershed.
