CITY OF LAKE MILLS: Mill Pond and Channel Study

Purpose

The City of Lake Mills will evaluate the Rock Lake Millpond for dredging feasibility, and for water quality and habitat health and recreational impairment. They will hold kickoff and progress public meetings, sample sediments, conduct a topographic survey of sediments, and prepare a conceptual plan of dredging. The latter will include cost estimates and an implementation plan. The project will identify locations of potential shoreland erosion and retaining wall rehabilitation. Stormwater outfalls to the millpond will be modeled to quantify pollutant loads from the subwatersheds. Results will be shared via the City Public Works Committee, the City Council and the Joint Rock Lake Committee, and published on the City of Lake Mills website.
