Little Baraboo River TWA 2018

Purpose

Jean Unmuth and Interns will monitor the condition of the headwaters of the Little Baraboo River to ascertain agricultural BMP effectiveness.

Objective

To evaluate effectiveness of BMP's implemented by Sauk Co. in the headwaters of the Little Baraboo River in 2017 (WBIC: 1282500).

Outcome

Fish, qualitative habitat, flow and qualitative habitat will be collected at three sites, and 6 monthly phosphorus samples collected at one site. Data will be entered in SWIMS and fisheries databases. A short 2 page report summarizing results will be completed after macroinvertebrate information is returned from UWSP.

Study Design

Fish, qualitative habitat and macroinvertebrates will be collected at three sites. Monitoring above BMP implementation site at SWIMS stations 10029046, and at two sites within BMP implementation area at SWIMS stations 573068 and 10011056. Six monthly phosphorus samples will be collected at the downstream end of BMP implementation at SWIMS station 10011056.
