Twin Lakes Surface Groundwater Interaction Study (2462300, 2598900) WCR_03_09

Purpose

Twin Lakes is on the 303(d) list and is a shallow groundwater flow through lake, which will eventually require a TMDL. No comprehensive water chemistry data has been collected on the lakes in over 10 years. This project is being designed as a one year project (Jan 08 -Dec 08).

Objective

This project is a first step in beginning to understand the impacts of groundwater on the hydrology and nutrient budget of Twin Lakes. Collection of this data will be crucial to determining project design for TMDL monitoring and modeling. The department and more specifically WCR region are under a stipulation order to submit a TMDL project proposal for FY2010.

Outcome

1) Number of sample sites associated with the project: 2 lake sites and 13 monitoring wells 2) Number of sampling events associated with project. 12 lake samples (2 sites x 6 events), 26 monitoring well samples (13 wells x 2 events) 3) Estimated date when sample collection will be complete. Decmber 2008 4) Estimated date when all data will be entered into appropriate database: (SWIMS) January 2009 5) Estimated date when final report will be complete: June 2008
