FLORENCE COUNTY: Florence Countywide AIS Programming

Purpose

Florence County is sponsoring an AIS EPP grant to be completed by December 31, 2008. The project will focus on AIS education, prevention and monitoring. Project activities include: 1) Recruit volunteers and implement a CB/CW program at Florence County landings; 2) Hire an Invasive Species Program Manager and a CB/CW Program Coordinator; 3) Conduct AIS citizen lake monitoring following Dept/UW Ext guidelines; 4) Entry of inspection Forms 3200-120 and monitoring Forms 3200-124 and/or 3200-130 onto Dept website; 5) Collect water quality samples; 6) Disseminate AIS information at boat landings, public areas, resorts, businesses, tournaments, and news articles; 7) Develop/distribute a healthy shoreland living packet; Project deliverables include: 1) Completed entry of inspection Forms 3200-120 and monitoring Forms 3200-124 onto Dept website; 2) Water quality results; 3) Assembled AIS information, news article(s), and shoreland packet; 4) Final report summarizing CB/CW activities, AIS monitoring, and AIS educational activities. Specific Conditions for this project: Final report needs Dept review and approval. WDNR Lakes Management Coordinator will be provided with an electronic (pdf or word) and hard copy of final report, samples of assembled AIS information, shoreland packet, and news article(s).
