BLACK OAK LAKE RIPARIAN OWNERS ASSOC: Black Oak Lake AIS Education, Prevention & Planning, Phase I

Purpose

Black Oak Lake Riparian Owners Association, Inc. is sponsoring an AIS EPP grant to be completed by December 31, 2009. The project will focus on AIS education, prevention and monitoring. Project activities include: 1) Recruit volunteers and implement a CB/CW program at Black Oak Lake landing; 2) Hire a CB/CW inspector through contractual agreement with Trees for Tomorrow; 3) Host AIS ID and CB/CW trainings; 4) Conduct AIS citizen lake monitoring following Dept/UW Ext guidelines; 5) Entry of inspection Forms 3200-120 and monitoring Forms 3200-124 onto Dept website; 6) Purchase a storage box for the boat landing, EWM laminates, and carwash tokens; 7) Conduct an AIS meander survey with a professional biologist; 8) Conduct AIS educational and outreach activities (kiosk, placemats, school presentation, Rusty Crayfish assessment, recognition gifts, homeowners packet); 9) Conduct 2 surveys: lake user and economic impact; 10) Disseminate AIS information at boat landings, public areas, resorts, businesses, tournaments, and newsletter and newspaper article(s). Project deliverables include: 1) CB/CW inspector; 2) Completed entry of inspection Forms 3200-120 and monitoring Forms 3200-124 onto Dept website; 3) Results of AIS meander survey; 4) Assembled AIS information and newsletter and newspaper article(s) and AIS educational and outreach activities; 5) Results of user survey and economic impact survey; 6) Final report summarizing CB/CW activities, AIS monitoring, AIS educational activities, and Rusty Crayfish assessment. Specific Conditions for this project: Final report needs Dept review and approval. WDNR Lakes Management Coordinator will be provided with an electronic (pdf or word) and hard copy of final report, samples of assembled AIS information, newsletter and newspaper article(s), and homeowners packet.
