UNIVERSITY OF WISCONSIN-STEVENS POINT: Portage Co. Weevils

Purpose

The U.W. Stevens Point College of Natural Resouces, in conjunction with the Schmeekle Reserve and Portage County, proposes to further study the use of milfoil weevils to control Eurasian Watermilfoil infestations in four Portage County lakes. Major project elements to include: 1) charactarization of milfoil beds, 2) weevil habitat studies, 3) water quality, temperature and sediment core sampling, 4) bathymetric and GIS contour mapping on Lake Joanis, 5) final report. As final report is to come in the form of the Regional AIS Coordinator's Masters Thesis, the AIS coordinator's tuition costs may also be considered as eligible expenses.
