PEARL LAKE PROTECTION & REHABILITATION DIST: Pearl Lake Comprehensive Survey Project

Purpose

Pearl Lake Protection & Rehab District proposes to contuct a comprehesive survey of Pearl Lake. The scope of this project includes several appraisal actions with the ultimate development of an amendment to the existing lake management plan. Deliverables include: \2022 Characterize current water quality following protocol via UW-Stevens Point schedule (7 events, multiple parameters w/ profiling) and develop reasonable objectives based on results. Additionally, approximately 5 samples will be analyzed for fecal coliform bacteria. \2022 Evaluate and characterize the aquatic plant community via summer PI survey \2022 Evaluate AIS plants via focused spring PI survey \2022 Conduct fishery review utilizing existing data and develop management recommendations. Conduct field appraisal of fish and wildlife habitat and map. \2022 Conduct property owner\2019s survey to define issues and guide plan development. This would be a citizen participation action. Summary report with recommendations relative to water quality, fishery, and aquatic plants

A thorough study of Pearl Lake, Waushara County, Wisconsin was conducted in 2010. The primary goals of this project have been 1) to gather baseline information on the physical, chemical and biological aspects of Pearl Lake, 2) to identify and prioritize management concerns including water quality and the presence of exotic species, 3) to provide information needed to make informed decisions regarding the future management of the waters both ecologically and sociologically, and 4) the eventual development of an aquatic plant management plan.
