FRIENDS OF THE NECEDAH NATIONAL WILDLIFE REF: RR - Restoration of the West Branch of the Little Yellow River

Purpose

The Friends of the Necedah Wildlife Refuge will work with the USFWS, to restore 1.5 miles of the West Branch of the Little Yellow River in Juneau County. Project final deliverables include: 1) Restore the natural stream channel from the current artificial ditched network, 2) Increase connectivity between the river and floodplain, 3) Improve connectivity of the river for fish and wildlife, 4) install 5 ditch plugs and 5) supply DNR with aerial photos and presentation materials. Specific project activities include: 1) continue the efforts from previous restoration projects, 2) complete all surveying, planning, permitting requirements, 3) Continue WAV protocols with the Necedah Charter School, 4) track groundwater inputs/movements, and 5) assess biological integrity via DNR IBI protocols. Special Conditions: Allow for a tour of the project area for DNR personnel and maintain records of WAV activities for future reference. Any appropriate data collected to be uploaded to SWIMS. This scope summarizes the project detail provided in the application and does not negate tasks/deliverables described therein. Data, records, and reports, including GIS-based maps, and digital images, must be submitted to the Department in a format specified by the regional Lake Biologist.
