TOWN OF SCHOEPKE: Pelican Lake AIS Prevention/Education

Purpose

The Town of Schoepke is sponsoring an AEPP grant for Pelican Lake, in Oneida County. Project partners include the Pelican Lake Property Owners Association and the Town of Enterprise. The project will focus on AIS education, prevention and monitoring. Project activities include: 1) Recruit volunteers and implement a CB/CW program at Pelican Lake landings; 2) Hire 2 AIS coordinators; 3) Conduct AIS citizen lake monitoring following Dept/UW Ext guidelines; 4) Entry of inspection Forms 3200-120 and monitoring Forms 3200-124 onto Dept website; 5) Disseminate AIS information at boat landings, public areas, resorts, campgrounds, businesses, tournaments, in newsletter article(s) and in news releases. Project deliverables include: 1) Minimum of 400 watercraft inspection hours; 2) Completed entry of inspection Forms 3200-120 and monitoring Forms 3200-124 onto Dept website; 3) Assembled AIS information and newsletter article(s); 4) Hired coordinators; 5) Final report summarizing CB/CW activities, AIS monitoring, and AIS educational activities. Specific Conditions for this project: Final report needs Dept review and approval. WDNR Lakes Management Coordinator will be provided with an electronic (pdf or word) and hard copy of final report, samples of assembled AIS information, newsletter article(s) and news releases.
