VILLAGE OF BELLEVILLE: Lake Belleview Fishery Restoration

Purpose

The Village of Belleville proposes to conduct a unique fish restoration for the new and improved Lake Belleview by building a naturally diverse fishery. Fish will be surveyed and collected in the Sugar River, collected, and deposited in the lake. No carp or other invasive species would be transferred. The fishery will be comprised of sport fish, as well as other common, small fish, to create a more natural, healthy fish community in the new lake. Project results will be shared via routine public meetings and presentations about the entire project, which will be offered to the Wisconsin Association of Lakes, Water Resources Association and North American Lakes Management Society.
