DANE COUNTY: Stewart Lake- CLP

Purpose

Dane County proposes to conduct early spring, whole lake treatment for curlyleaf pondweed in 8-acre Stewart Lake, Dane County, for 3 consecutive years, followed by a treatment paid for by the sponsor. All monitoring and residual samples will be done per DNR guidance for whole-lake eradication projects. The lake is for all practical purposes \201Cnew\201D since it has been drained and dredged, yet CLP turions have survived. Control is desired so that the lake will support a healthy diversity of native plants and water quality that is not compromised by extensive annual growth of CLP. Project staff will inform residents and stakeholders of the effort via local media, presentations, postings at the lake, and on the Dane County website.
