TOWN OF HAZELHURST: Town of Hazelhurst AIS Monitoring & Inspection Program

Purpose

The Town of Hazelhurst is sponsoring a project on Katherine Lake and McCormick Lake in Oneida County focusing on Town-wide AIS education, and lake specific prevention and monitoring. Project activities include: 1) Hire AIS project coordinator; 2)Sponsor an annual CB/CW workshop; 3) Perform watercraft inspections and conduct AIS monitoring on McCormick and Katherine Lakes; 4) Develop and distribute AIS informational napkins; 5) Create a Hazelhurst Town Lakes Committee; 6) Entry of inspection and monitoring forms into SWIMS; 7) Disseminate AIS information at boat landings, public areas, and businesses and private resorts. Project deliverables include: 1) Minimum of 200 hours of watercraft inspection hours at Lake Katherine; 2) Completed entry of inspection and monitoring forms into SWIMS; 3) Hired coordinator; 4) Completed workshops, AIS napkins and Town Lakes Committee; 5) AIS educational materials; 6) Final report summarizing CB/CW activities, AIS monitoring, and AIS educational activities. Specific project conditions: Final report needs Dept review and approval WDNR Lakes Management Coordinator will be provided with an electronic (pdf or word) copy of final report and samples of AIS educational materials.
