MUSSER LAKE ASSOCIATION: Musser Lake AIS Control & Prevention Project - Implementation Phase 1

Purpose

The Musser Lake Association is sponsoring an AIS control project. In recent years curly leaf pondweed (CLP) has infested the flowage, and negatively affected the native vegetation species and has degraded the general ability for residents and tourists to enjoy the lakes. The lake association completed an Aquatic Plant management Plan in 2011. This control grant implements recommendations listed in the approved plan including a herbicide treatment. Project goals include: 1) Spot (67 acre total) liquid endothall treatment of CLP on Musser lake; 2) CLP peak biomass surveys; 3) Pre/Post evaluation monitoring; 4) Residual endothall sampling; 5) Clean Boats Clean Waters monitoring program; 6) Shoreline buffer installation project; 7) AIS signage installation project. Project deliverables include a final report including a discussion of the results of the post treatment surveys and recommended treatment strategies for 2013. Specific conditions for this Project: 1) The WDNR will be provided electronic and hard copies of all data and or reports/plans generated as a result of this project; 2) Provide hard copy of point intercept data in proper spreadsheet format.
