HIGH-FISHTRAP-RUSH LKS ASSOC: High-Fishtrap-Rush Lakes Stewardship Program, Phase 1

Purpose

High-Fishtrap-Rush Lakes Association is sponsoring phased large scale lake planning grants to study High-Fishtrap-Rush Lakes, in Vilas County. The project will focus on developing a Lake Management Plan (LMP) for High-Fishtrap-Rush Lakes. Phase 2 will be submitted for funding during the Feb 1, 2013 grant cycle. Phase 1 project activities include: 1) Gather and assess existing High-Fishtrap-Rush Lakes information; 2) Volunteer frog and toad monitoring and angler\2019s journal program; 3) PI aquatic plant survey, community and substrate mapping and analysis; 4) Watershed assessment and water quality sampling; 5) Lake stage, discharge and retention time assessment; 6) Rare species assessment; 7) Educational program \2013 stakeholder survey, meetings, newsletter articles, and press releases; 8) Watercraft inspections. Project deliverables include: 1) PI, stakeholder survey, water quality, rare species, frog and toad, angler\2019s journal, lake stage, discharge, retention, and watershed data; 2) Aquatic plant community and substrate maps; 3) Entered inspection data into SWIMS; 4) Aquatic plant vouchers; 5) Education materials. Specific conditions for this project: 1) Draft of stakeholder survey needs to be submitted to Lakes Management Coordinator for review and approval before sending to public; 2) Project summaries and reports need Dept. review and approval. WDNR Lakes Management Coordinator will be provided with an electronic (pdf or word) copy of reports, PI, stakeholder survey, water quality, watershed, rare species, frog and toad, stage, discharge, retention, and angler data, a set of aquatic plant vouchers, all maps from project, and all GIS data.
