MID LAKE PROTECTION & MANAGEMENT DISTRICT: Mid Lake AIS Control & Prevention Project Phase 1 2013

Purpose

Mid Lake P&R District is sponsoring a project which will focus on surveying, monitoring, mapping, and managing the CLP and purple loosestrife in Mid Lake, Oneida County. Project activities include: 1) Conduct point-intercept (PI) aquatic plant and early-season AIS surveys; 2) Conduct volunteer AIS monitoring; 3) Control CLP and purple loosestrife by hand removal efforts; 4) Conduct watercraft inspections; 5) Enter watercraft inspection data into SWIMS; 6) Purchase GPS; 7) Develop annual maps and letter report. Project deliverables include: 1) PI and early season AIS survey data and maps; 2) Entered inspection data; 3) GPS; 4) Letter report describing the findings of the PI survey, early-spring survey, hand-pulling efforts, and guidance for continued CLP control actions. Specific conditions for this project: Letter report needs Dept review and approval. WDNR Lakes Management Coordinator will be provided with an electronic (pdf or word) copy of letter report, all maps, and all aquatic plant and GIS data.
