LAKE NOKOMIS LAKE DISTRICT: Lake Nokomis AIS Control & Prevention Project: 2012-2015

Purpose

The Lake Nokomis Lake District is sponsoring an AIS control project which will implement recommendations in the Aquatic Plant Management Plan aimed at controlling and prevention the spread of EWM. The project includes a whole bay chemical treatment of Gator Bay on Lake Nokomis. The project includes the following goals: 1) Whole Lake EWM herbicide treatment in Gator Bay (2013-14); 2) Spot EWM Treatment in Nokomis and Bridge Lakes (2014-15); 3) EWM peak biomass surveys; 4) Pre/Post evaluation monitoring; 5) Residual 2, 4-D sampling; 6) Clean Boats Clean Waters (CBCW) monitoring Program; 7) AIS surveillance monitoring and EWM hand removal. Project deliverables include: Final annual reports will be completed discussing the results of the surveys and recommended treatment strategies for future years. Specific conditions for this Project: 1) The WDNR will be provided electronic and hard copies of all data and or reports/plans generated as a result of this project; 2) Make sure lake association members are informed about this project; 3) Provide hard copy of point intercept data in proper spreadsheet format; 4) All AIS monitoring and CBCW data should be entered in SWIMS.
