WAUSHARA COUNTY: LCO-Lake Planning Phase 2 Grant 7

Purpose

Waushara County is continuing their county-wide study of 33 lakes. The following work activities will be completed in phase 2, grant 7: 1. Lake modeling (WILMS \2013 16 lakes) 2. Plant point intercept sampling a. Sensitive habitat mapping 3. Newspaper and media outreach (2-5 efforts) 4. Public meetings (2-4 meetings) 5. Comprehensive final report generation 6. Lake/watershed report The following deliverables (products) will result from phase 2, grant 7: 1. A comprehensive final report will include the interpretation of the collected data; this information will be presented for each lake. 2. Recommendations from each study component will be provided for use in the development/update of lake management plans. 3. Recommendations may be targeted for individual citizens, organizations, government units including the County and Town Committees, Land Conservation Department and DNR staff. 4. A report will be generated that summarizes the lake/watershed information at a county scale. This report will provide reference conditions for lakes in the county and can be utilized by the county and municipalities to direct/prioritize implementation strategies. 5. The county will keep the local newspapers and other media up to date on the study, its progress, and associated meetings. 6. The County\2019s webpage, necessary PSA\2019s and direct mailings to lake property owners as well as notifications to the Waushara County Watershed Lakes Council will be used to keep the public informed and up to date. 7. Two copies each, digital and hard copy, of all the final reports will be supplied to the local DNR \2013 Lakes Biologist
