PHILLIPS CHAIN O'LAKES ASSOC: Phillips Chain of Lakes AIS Early Detection & Response Project - CLP

Purpose

The Phillips Chain of Lakes Association will sponsor an curly-leaf pondweed (CLP) early detection & response project. During the summer of 2013 CLP was found in Duroy Lake at low densities. The project addresses the pioneer CLP through monitoring and volunteer based hand harvesting activities for two years (2014-2015). The project includes the following goals: 1) Early season AIS survey; 2) Hand removal coordination and GPS base map creation; 3) Volunteer based surveillance monitoring and hand removal; 4) Clean Boats Clean Waters (CB/CW) monitoring Program; 5) Late summer follow up AIS survey. Project deliverables include: 1) A final report will be completed discussing the results of the two years of surveys, success of hand pulling and a control strategy targeting AIS within the Phillips Chain; 2) Summary of CB/CW activities. Specific conditions for this Project: 1) The WDNR will be provided electronic and hard copies of all data and or reports/plans generated as a result of this project; 2) Make sure lake association members are informed about this project; 3) Enter CB/CW data into SWIMS.
