Frigid Bumble Bee (Bombus frigidus), a State Special Concern bee, is found in boreal forest habitat. Nests are often above ground, though are sometimes found below the surface. Males patrol circuits in search of mates. Frigid bumble bees breed during the summer months. Some of the nectar/pollen plants of this medium-tongued species include Cirsium (thistles), Epilobium, Lupinus, Potentilla, Salix, Trifolium (clovers), and Vaccinium (blueberry).
