Brachypnoea convexa is a Wisconsin Special Concern leaf beetle that has been found in dry and dry-mesic prairies. It is in the Eumolpinae subfamily, members of which are also known as oval leaf beetles. Unsurprisingly, they are oval shaped. While many species are darkly colored, some, such as Brachypnoea convexa, are iridescent. The larvae in this subfamily occur in soil and feed on roots.
