Washboard (Megalonaias nervosa), a State Special Concern species, is found in the western part of the state in large rivers with moderate current. Although it has been found in various substrate types, it seems to be most abundant in stable mud. A number of common fish species have been recorded as its hosts, including eel, catfish, centrarchids, bowfin, and bass.
