The Army is handling PFAS contamination at all Army Installations under a nationwide contract. To maximize protection of human health and safety, investigation and remediation of PFAS contamination is being prioritized based upon risk, in accordance with the 1992 Department of Defense and State Memorandum of Agreement (DSMOA). Therefore, the military installations with PFAS contamination in potable wells are being addressed first. Fort McCoy has no PFAS contamination in any of the installation's potable wells. The CERCLA PA will be conducted at Fort McCoy during July 2018. If warranted, some SI sampling may occur during CY2018. Fort McCoy will submit PA/SI results to the WDNR upon receipt, and keep the WDNR informed of progress and lessons learned regarding the nationwide PFAS investigation/remediation at other installations as this information becomes available.
