The Howards Bay Great Lakes Legacy Act project is currently in the remedial design phase. The project as currently envisioned will remediate sediments in Howards Bay. The US Army Corps of Engineers is developing a remedial design on behalf of USEPA with participation by WDNR, the City of Superior, and Fraser Shipyards. The WDNR, Fraser, and the City of Superior are collaborating as non-federal sponsors of the project and working to complete project agreements with USEPA for construction. A funding application for construction of the GLLA project has been submitted to USEPA Great Lakes National Program Office. Fraser and WDNR are addressing how to close the BRRTS case as an outcome of the GLLA project, pending post-construction sampling results.
