The property was acquired through tax delinquency by Crawford County in June 2019. With the property now being owned by Crawford County and the County and the City of Prairie du Chien working together to plan the future of the property, a unique opportunity presents itself to fully assess the environmental conditions of the site and in turn remediate any contamination. The WDNR secured an EPA planning grant to assist in the planning and design of the reuse of the property. A WAM application has been submitted to complete further investigation of the site.
