ENVIRONMENTAL CLEANUP & BROWNFIELDS REDEVELOPMENT
NR700 ACTIVITY PROGRESS REPORT

Reporting Period: 1/1/2019 - 6/30/2019
BRRTS No: 02-41-579429
Activity Name: SUNRISE SHOPPING CENTER - HF & FMR OPERATION
Status: Remediation
Activity: Sampling/Monitoring
Comments: Polynuclear Aromatic Hydrocarbon (PAH) contamination was identified within two (2) areas at the Sunrise Shopping Center facility: within the area of a former heating oil UST behind the 2414B 10th Avenue tenant space (location of monitoring well MW-4) and within the southern extent of the site (location of MW-3). The PAH contamination continues to be monitored during quarterly groundwater monitoring. Two (2) quarterly groundwater sampling events were conducted during the first semi-annual 2019 reporting period. The first quarter sampling was performed on January 25, 2019, with results provided in the Quarterly Groundwater Sampling Report dated February 13, 2019. The second quarter groundwater sampling was performed on April 29, 2019, and the results were provided in the Quarterly Groundwater Sampling Report dated May 16, 2019. The quarterly sampling indicates that PAH groundwater concentrations in MW-4 fluctuate (likely as a function of groundwater table elevation change), and generally remain slightly above the Preventative Action Limits. Concentrations in MW-3 continue to be observed above the Enforcement Standard and also fluctuate between sampling events. The groundwater concentrations indicate more influence with groundwater table elevation change as a result of the greater amount of fill material within the area for MW-3 identified during investigation activities, but impact appears to be confined to the isolated location along the southern property boundary. No active remediation is being conducted or is proposed. Quarterly sampling of MW-3 and MW-4 will be continued. The third quarterly sampling event was completed on July 5, 2019; results are pending.
