Sufficient evidence has been provided to rule out an on-site source of PFAS compounds detected in some groundwater monitoring wells and the evidence points to an off-site source upgradient to the direction of groundwater flow (to the north-northwest). All current groundwater monitoring wells used to monitor past chromium contamination remain in place even though the chromium contamination case has been closed by the WDNR. We are currently evaluating the need to retain all or some of these monitoring wells as they pose a risk for future groundwater contamination since they are direct conduits to the water table. Of special concern are the wells inside the current manufacturing complex and those within the adjacent City of Appleton roadways.
