The Munger Landing Great Lakes Legacy Act project began construction in July 2022. Excavation/Dredging began in August 2022 and continued through December 2022 when they were temporarily suspended for the winter. The wetland area (DMU4 was mechanically dredged in February and March 2023. Hydraulic dredging commenced in June 2023 and continued through September 2023. Approximately 107,200 cubic yards of sediment have been dredged and disposed of offsite to date. Residual capping operations began in August 2023 and continued through December 2023. Approximately 70,200 cubic yards of sand were placed followed by 9,200 cubic yards of Biomedium material.
Restoration activities began in December 2023 adjacent to the Munger Landing boat launch and will continue in 2024.
The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (WDNR), Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA), and Paramount Global are collaborating as non-federal sponsors of the project. Paramount Global anticipates filing a BRTTS closure request to the WDNR upon completion of remedial activities.
