On November 2, 2022, Ramboll ((Ramboll Americas Engineering Solutions Inc., formerly Ramboll Environmental US Corp), on behalf of Sun Chemical Corporation, submitted an NR 716 Site Investigation Report (SIR). The SIR was submitted with a fee for DNR review and a written response. The DNR reviewed the SIR for compliance with Wis. Admin. Code ch. NR 716. The Review of the NR716 Site Investigation Report was received on December 22, 2023.
Based on the review, the DNR has determined that additional site investigation is necessary. A response letter will be submitted that proposes the following activities to meet the requirements in the December 2023 letter:
-Quarterly groundwater monitoring to establish a contaminant trend and to demonstrate a stable or receding plume, groundwater elevations, and flow direction
-Additional surface water sampling to confirm previous results and assess the potential for connection between a storm sewer and retention basin.
The results tables will screen results against the Wisconsin Department of Health Services (DHS) Cycle 11 recommendations for Per- and Poly- fluoroalkyl Substance standards.
Schedule
-Q1 2024 begins quarterly Groundwater sampling.
-Notification reports within 10 days of data validation.
-NR700 Semi-annual Reports
-Submittal of comprehensive Site Investigation Report (SIR) that meets Wis. Admin. Code § NR 716.15 requirements. The SIR will be submitted to the DNR within 60 days after completion of the field investigation and validation of laboratory data with a fee for review and response.
