| Comments: | Bridge reconstruction design and planning efforts continued throughout the reporting period. This activity included further refinement of preliminary design related to in-water structure removal and replacement. Preliminary design will continue during the next reporting period and will involve engagement with the WDNR over the management of contaminated sediment during future construction. A Sediment Investigation Report was submitted to the WDNR in September 2024. The report presented findings generated from sampling activity that occurred within the St. Louis Bay and Howards Bay water bodies over the 2022 and 2023 field seasons. Field methods and protocol for the Sediment Investigation were previously submitted to the WDNR in a July 2022 Sampling and Analysis Plan that was subsequently amended in August 2022 and July 2023. The WDNR issued a Responsible Party letter to the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources in October 2024 based on metals and chemical residuals detected in Howards Bay sediment during the 2022 and 2023 investigations. Additional sediment sampling is planned within Howards Bay during the next reporting period. |
