A GZA Vapor Intrusion Assessment Report for the former One-Hour Valet Cleaners site was submitted to the WDNR on February 25, 2015. The objectives of the vapor intrusion assessment activities were to evaluate for the presence of volatile organic compounds in the soil gas beneath one potentially occupied structure near the Site and whether concentrations could be a concern for occupants. The WDNR concurred with the conclusions and recommendations that neither further assessment nor mitigation related to sub-slab vapor associated the Marquette University parking garage appears to be necessary.
Plans for the Marquette University (MU) site include the potential for the demolition of the existing structure. However, the university had not resolved the future use of the buildings or the use of the site should it be free of the buildings. MU continues to develop goals and actions, which include the former Dry Cleaner property. Although the construction of any significant building on the site is several years into the future, an interim plan may call for the demolition of the existing buildings and construction of a surface parking lot. If implemented, MU would request the project be bid with the buildings removed first to allow surface site development following initial remediation activity.
