Activity: Field Sampling/Monitoring
Comments: In the current reporting period, the activities related to this BRRTS number have included finalization of the Focused Feasibility Study (FFS) for Howard's Bay. The FFS was distributed to the GLLA project partners via posting to the Share Point site in early July, 2015. On 7/15/15 the EPA, WDNR and Fraser project managers signed a memo concurring to begin design activities to refine FFS Alternative 4, and to work to optimize overall costs. On 7/15/15 Arcadis provided a description of design tasks that would need to be completed by a USACOE contractor. On 7/31/15 WDNR provided level 2 lab report and EDD files for sediment samples collected by WDNR in June 2015. On 8/24/15 Fraser (Arcadis) provided a markup of the draft Alternative 4 sub area boundaries proposing revision of the western extent of the project based on TBT data showing that the western extent was un-delineated. WDNR agreed to revise the western boundary of the project. On 8/27/15 WDNR provided core logs and data from Howards Bay sediment sampling conducted in June 2015. Collaborative efforts to refine disposal plans for the dredged material at the Wisconsin Point Landfill owned by the City of Superior occurred through coordination amount WDNR, the City and Fraser. On 11/2/15 WDNR provided a draft recontamination study evaluation report for project partners review. On 12/24/15 Arcadis provided draft 4DIM 3d visualization model displays of Howards Bay sediment deposits for project partners review. The USACE has been working to finalize arrangements with a contractor to help complete the remedial design. The design will include dredging of sediment in the east end of bay known as Howard's Pocket, where AOC #14 is located.
