Pursuant to discussions with WDNR, BNSF was asked to undertake a limited investigation on its property surrounding Pickle Pond to determine if there is an ongoing release that could recontaminate the pond after it is remediated. BNSF met with USFWS and WDNR in Superior, WI on 1/14/16 to present and discuss BNSF's proposed sampling approach to obtain soil samples on BNSF property around Pickle Pond. On 5/23/16 BNSF provided a map to USFWS and WDNR showing BNSF property around Pickle Pond, according to BNSF records. On 3/1/16 and 5/23/16 BNSF provided comments to USFWS on a draft QAPP prepared by USFWS for sediment and soil sampling at Pickle Pond. On 6/6/16 BNSF submitted a work plan to WDNR for soil sampling on BNSF property around Pickle Pond. From 6/13-6/15/16 Arcadis, on behalf of BNSF, observed sediment and soil sampling conducted by Limno Tech (contractor to USFWS) in and around Pickle Pond. On 6/24/16 BNSF received WDNR approval of the 6/6/16 soil sampling work plan, following clarification of the sampling approach by BNSF in response to WDNR comments. On 6/24/16 BNSF notified WDNR of intent to start the soil sampling field work on 6/29/16. On 6/29-6/30/16 Arcadis collected soil samples on BNSF property around Pickle Pond in accordance with the 6/6/16 work plan.
