CALUMET COUNTY: AIS Education, Prevention & Planning

Calumet County is sponsoring a project to continue aquatic invasive species (AIS) education, prevention and planning activities throughout the Winnebago watershed including Calumet, Winnebago, Fond du Lac, Brown and Outagamie Counties.

Project final deliverables include: a final summary report which includes all the education, prevention and planning activities completed during the grant period and all Clean Boats Clean Waters, CLMN and Bridge Snapshot Day data entered in the SWIMS database.

Specific project activities include: 1) provide outreach at major regional events targeting anglers and sportsmen; 2) conduct a minimum of 200 hours of Clean Boats Clean Waters; 3) participate in Ice Your Catch, Landing Blitz, Bait Shop Initiative, AIS Bridge Snapshot Day, kids fishing events and local fishing and conservation club meetings; 4) provide decontamination demonstrations; 5) provide AIS education at DNR safety classes including Boater Safety, Hunter Safety, and Learn to Hunt classes; 6) hold CLMN workshops to train new volunteers to monitor for AIS; 7) develop a monitoring plan for the Winnebago system; 8) provide education and outreach through press releases, websites, newsletters, reports, and articles.

This scope summarizes the project detail provided in the application and does not negate tasks/deliverables described therein. Data, records, and reports must be submitted to the Department in a format specified by the regional Lake Biologist.

If consultant is to provide final report, it is recommended that Grantee provide DNR Lake Coordinator with a draft for comment on report adequacy prior to making final payment to the consultant. DNR to receive both paper and electronic .pdf copies of the final report along with, or prior to submission of grantee's final payment request.
