BUCKATABON LAKE ASSOCIATION: Buckatabon Lakes Early Detection and Rapid Response Project

Buckatabon Lakes Association is sponsoring an AIRR grant to be completed by December 31, 2020. The project will focus on surveying, monitoring, mapping, and hand-pulling EWM in Upper and Lower Buckatabon Lakes, Vilas County.

Project activities include: 1) Conduct annual post management evaluation survey and one year (2020) of early-season and mid-late season AIS surveys; 2) Conduct volunteer AIS surveillance monitoring; 3) Control EWM by hand-removal and DASH efforts; 4) Conduct watercraft inspections and enter data into SWIMS; 5) Develop annual maps and report; 6) Develop end of project report.

Project deliverables include: 1) EWM survey data and maps; 2) 400 hours of inspection time and entered data. 3) Annual reports and final report describing the findings of the AIS, hand-pulling efforts, and guidance for continued control actions.

Specific conditions for this project: Annual reports and final report need Dept review and approval.

WDNR Lakes Management Coordinator will be provided with an electronic (pdf or word) copy of reports, all maps, and all aquatic plant and any GIS data.
