ONEIDA COUNTY LWCD: AIS Education, Prevention & Planning Project
The Oneida County Land and Water Conservation Department is sponsoring an Aquatic Invasive Species Education, Prevention & Planning grant to be completed by June 30, 2008. The project will focus on AIS education, prevention, monitoring, and coalition building.
Project activities include:
1) Recruit volunteers and implement a Clean Boat/Clean Water program at town landings
2) Hire an AIS coordinator (duties listed in position description attached to proposal)
3) Conduct AIS citizen lake monitoring following Dept/UW Ext guidelines
4) Conduct 2 shoreline sweeps
5) Conduct "Guided AIS Monitoring"
6) Entry of inspection forms 3200-120 and monitoring forms onto Dept website
7) Develop a local "Plan of Action" for AIS containment and management
8) Build portable CB/CW kiosks
9) Assemble 10 AIS monitoring equipment packages
