DOOR COUNTY: Door County AIS Education/Prevention/Planning Project
The Door County Soil and Water Conservation Department proposes to conduct an aquatic invasive species (AIS) education, prevention, planning, and control project in partnership with the Door County Invasive Species Team during the period of October 2007 - December 2009. The project elements and deliverables are specified in the Door County Soil and Water Conservation Department's Aquatic Invasive Species Control Grant application, dated July 27, 2007. The project includes hiring a coordinator; identify partners and assist these partners with developing control projects; organize and implement demonstration control field days; hire summer "clean boats clean waters" coordinator: implement at least two "clean boats clean waters" workshops annually: provide easy access to aquatic invasive resources that are relevant to Door County's issues and concerns; manage current invasive species database, website and advertising, any publications are to include the stop aquatic hitch hikers logo; and obtain grant funding to implement county-wide control projects.
