CALUMET COUNTY: Calumet County AIS Control Project
The Calumet County Planning Department proposes to conduct an aquatic invasive species (AIS) education, prevention, planning and control project during the period of October 2007 - December 2009. The project elements and deliverables are specified in the Calumet County Planning Department's Aquatic Invasive Species Control Grant application, dated July 31, 2007. The project includes hiring an AIS coordinator; develop a county wide plan; implementation of the aquatic invasive species control plans; county wide database of AIS locations; countywide database of volunteers; website identifying participation events for the public along with information about the species identified in Calumet County; field days for volunteers or organizations involving hands-on identification and control work; clean boats clean waters programs; annual education and training opportunity for local road crews; annual education and training opportunity for county highway crews; hands on identification and training opportunities for adopt-a-highway volunteers; distribution of brochures about invasive species in county.
