ONEIDA COUNTY LWCD: AIS Education, Prevention and Planning
The Oneida County Land and Water Conservation Department is sponsoring an AIS EPP grant to be completed by December 31, 2008. The project will focus on AIS education, prevention, monitoring, and coalition building.
Project activities include: 1) Recruit volunteers and implement a CB/CW program at town landings; 2) Hire two CB/CW inspectors; 3) Host three CB/CW trainings and a Citizen Lake Monitoring & AIS ID training; 4) Conduct AIS citizen lake monitoring following Dept/UW Ext guidelines; 5) Entry of inspection forms 3200-120 and monitoring Forms 3200-124 and/or 3200-130 onto Dept website; 6) Send AIS Coordinator and Conservation Specialist to Lakes Convention; 7) Develop AIS Webpage; 8) Provide incentive patches to dedicated volunteers; 9) Create and distribute placemats to area businesses.
