MANITOWOC COUNTY LAKES ASSN: Manitowoc Cty AIS Education & Planning Project
Manitowoc County Lake Association proposes to conduct education, prevention and planning activities to control and prevent the spread of aquatic invasive species (AIS) into and from Manitowoc County and Silver Lake during the period 2008 - 2010. The project elements and deliverables are specified in Manitowoc County Lake Association's Aquatic Invasive Species Grant application, dated January 30, 2008. The project includes developing a comprehensive AIS plan addressing elements of prevention, control, monitoring, policy development, research, education/information, coordination and county wide integration; conducting bus tours and educational activities to train volunteers in monitoring and prevention methods; and identifying opportunities for county integration of AIS prevention activities on near-by lakes, highway departments and Woodland Dunes Nature Center. Silver Lake aquatic plant restoration activities will be reported to the DNR.
