ECHO LAKE ASSOC, LTD: Aquatic Plant Management - Echo Lake, Barron County
Echo Lake Association is sponsoring a 4-yr. Eurasian watermilfoil (EWM) control project based on an Aquatic Plant Management Plan approved by the WI-DNR. The project includes AIS control for 2008 through 2011.
Activities include: Chemical treatment of EWM, physical removal of EWM by trained lake residents, aquatic plant surveys, monitoring for Eurasian watermilfoil weevil, walleye fingerling stocking in an attempt to manipulate the lake trophic cascade, a watercraft inspection program, in-lake monitoring for new aquatic invasive species, development of an AIS emergency response plan, water quality monitoring including dissolved oxygen profiles, protection of native aquatic plants, sediment testing to predict EWM growth, and AIS information & education outreach including boat landing signage, brochures, and resident training opportunities.
