IRON COUNTY: Aquatic Invasive Species Education, Prevention & Outreach

Iron County will sponsor a project to fund a position for a countywide AIS coordinator to develop and implement and AIS education and control program in the county.

The project includes the following goals: 1) Develop a county-wide education and outreach AIS program to build awareness and prevent further spread of AIS into additional lakes and watersheds. Target audiences include: lake associations, lake recreational users, landowners, local businesses, schools, etc; 2) Monitor and document aquatic invasive species locations in Iron County; 3) Coordinate a partnership to organize AIS prevention and control efforts; 4) Manage AIS grant and develop funding opportunities for evolving AIS concerns.
